The Director of Human Resources, in coordination with the Risk Management Coordinator, oversee United Health Centers’ Corporate Compliance Program and function as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The Director of Human Resources ensures the Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, Management, and all UHC employees are in compliance with:
· The rules and regulations of all regulatory agencies
· Company policies and procedures
· UHC’s Standards of Conduct.
The Director of Human Resources, in coordination with the Risk Management Coordinator, maintains and reviews the written policies and procedures for UHC to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Human Resources and Risk Management are responsible for managing a Patient Complaint Hotline and Patient Complaint Committee. In addition, they work closely with Learning and Development to develop an effective compliance training program. This includes appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and management.
Working closely with the Information Technology Security Department, the Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all Personal Health Information (PHI) is safeguarded against unauthorized access, theft, or loss in compliance with Federal and State laws and privacy policies. Per established HIPAA guidelines, the Risk Management Coordinator conducts periodic risk assessments and monitors key elements of the privacy and security program including privacy notices, consents, authorizations, business partner agreements/practices, minimum necessary information collection, and disclosures.
Work-Related Injury Reporting and Workers Compensation
The Risk Management Coordinator is the main point of contact for work-related injury reporting and workers’ compensation injury claims. The Risk Management Coordinator prepares all work-related injury paperwork, provides monthly reports on work-related injuries, and handles claim
management for work-related injuries to ensure that all incidents are recorded in keeping with OSHA and Cal-OSHA requirements.
The Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that UHC meets the Cal-OSHA regulation regarding incident reporting by preparing, tracking, and posting appropriate incident logs, including preparing the OSHA annual reporting and posting requirements.
The Risk Management Coordinator works in conjunction with the Learning & Development Department to provide staff training and development regarding safety programs and safety initiatives. The Risk Management Coordinator supports new hire orientation by providing initial safety training to newly hired members of the UHC team. The Risk Management Coordinator works closely with remote site safety committees to support the objectives of safety programs, oversees fire drills and building evacuation drills for all sites at UHC. The Risk Management Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that UHC meets the Cal-OSHA regulation regarding incident reporting by preparing, tracking, and posting appropriate incident logs, including preparing the OSHA annual reporting and posting requirements.
